Making decisions
We constantly make decisions, but we don’t always have to make them on our own.
Nowadays, it’s not typical for someone to say, “Sorry, I feel unsure and not confident to make this decision.”. I rarely find someone who makes this point. If one does, I admire his honesty and humility.
Early in my career, I used to believe that having skills and experience meant knowing everything and making quick and right decisions. But I’ve come to realize that this was a false belief that came from immaturity.
Being truthful and asking for help and different opinions is completely normal. It doesn’t make someone less respected or viewed as unprofessional or inexperienced. It can have the opposite effect.
It’s normal to not know what to do at times.
When I don’t know something. I say it.
When I feel uncertain about making a decision. I say it.
I ask for help.
It’s great to brainstorm with others when facing a problem. Considering different perspectives and sharing opinions helps ensure that nothing is overlooked. Multiple minds thinking together are always better than one.
This is the better way to make great decisions.
